That's right everyone, it's the return of Throwback Thursday and I have a good one for you: This was back in the early '90's, as you might have guessed from my Hammer pants. I was a huge fan of "In Living Color" and wanted more than anything to be a Fly Girl. I used to tape record the routines and learn them in my bedroom in the hopes of becoming part of the troupe one day! Unfortunately the show only lasted 5 seasons so it wasn't meant to be, but I recently heard rumors that "In Living Color" might get a reboot. Hey Keenan, if that's true then call me - hahahaha! Have a great day everyone!

Hey Everyone! How has your week been? I have been fab but busy! The couple weeks before Christmas are always nuts for this little mule and this year is no exception. I have a really cool post planned for sometime soon though so make sure you keep checking the blog! I bet a lot of you have a photo similar to today's Throwback pic. It's the good old visit to Santa! Here's my version: I forget how old I was here, maybe 7 or 8? My Mom loves Christmas and it was a big tradition for us to get dressed up & go take a picture with Santa. I somehow managed to match my dress to the seat that year. Cool, huh? Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend. I'll be busy with the final rehearsals for the production of Gypsy that I'm starring in at my old alma mater, the Sheboygan Conservatory. I blogged about that here: http://www.applesthemule.com/1/category/gypsy/1.html If you're in Sheboygan, Wisconsin next week be sure to check it out! And if you're not - lucky you, we're looking at highs in the 20's. Yikes! Bye for now!
Hey Dudes! How's it going? Is everyone excited for Thanksgiving and a long weekend off from work? I know I am! Today I have a cool Thanksgiving-themed Throwback photo to share. It's not Thursday though so maybe we can call this a Turnback Tuesday photo. Is that a thing? It is now - hahaha! When I was about 7 or 8 my school did a Thanksgiving pageant, and I was thrilled to get to play the leading role of the turkey. What can I say, my teachers must have recognized my talents even back then. Just kidding! Anyway, here's the photo: As the turkey I had a short song and dance routine, and it looks like my Mom caught me mid-move there. I wrote the the song myself and I don't remember the exact words but I know I sang about being the tastiest thing on the plate. I guess I was a little morbid back then - hahaha! And I don't eat turkey, obviously, so the whole thing was pretty funny. Anyway, I'd love to hear about your childhood Thanksgiving memories so drop me a line! Safe travels everyone & enjoy the time off!
Hey Everyone! Last week I mentioned in my "Ask Apples" post that I think Martha Stewart steals ideas from me. I was sorta kidding of course, but it's actually not out of the realm of possibility. You see, I actually met Ms. Stewart a few years back when I was invited to go to her house in Connecticut with a mutual friend of ours. She showed me around her property and introduced me to her dogs and even taught me how to make the most perfect mini chocolate souffles. We talked a lot about our mutual interests in cooking and crafting and it was only after that time that I would watch her tv show and see recipes similar to those I had just cooked or crafting projects like what I had just made at home. Do I think Martha Stewart put spy cameras in my apartment? Probably not. It's more likely just a case of great minds thinking alike. But hey, she's definitely a driven person who will do anything to succeed so I wouldn't put it past her. Just kidding Martha, don't come after me - hahahaha! Anyway, here's a photo from that fabulous day, one that I will definitely cherish forever. Have a great weekend everyone!
Hey Everyone! It's Thursday so you know what that means........ I've got a good one for you today. A few years back I was doing some regular extra work as a nurse on General Hospital. It was super fun, the director even gave me a couple lines here and there because he thought I was so fantastic and professional. All you General Hospital viewers might remember that there was a big fire that burned the hospital down and here's a photo of me in my nurse's scrubs on the burning set: Don't worry, I was perfectly safe. The fire was completely contained and there were big strong firefighters everywhere! I almost wanted to pretend to be in trouble so one of them would come rescue me - hahahaha! Have a great weekend everyone, see ya next week!
Hey Everyone! Don't worry, you're not nuts, it's not actually Thursday anymore but I have been so freakin' busy this week I just couldn't get my Throwback Thursday post up yesterday! I guess this is actually a Flashback Friday post, but I didn't have time to put together a new logo so this'll have to do. It's just one of those weeks, I've been a day late and a dollar short all over the place. Anyway I wanted to make sure to get this post up because it's relevant to something that happened this week. Take a look: I was inspired to share this because of Tuesday's election, of course. This was my one foray into politics, back in high school. I had an uncle who owned an ice cream shop so my offer wasn't just an empty campaign promise. I said I was running on the "Free Ice Cream" platform, everyone loved it. I actually won believe it or not, and the Friday after my victory my uncle brought in enough ice cream to feed the whole school. If only all politicians fulfilled their promises as clearly as I did - hahahahaha! Have a great weekend everyone, see y'all next week!
Happy Halloween Everyone! It's finally here and I'm so excited! First things first, I have to give a birthday shout out to my friend Amanda in Los Angeles - Happy Birthday girl, hope you're having a great day! I wish my birthday was on Halloween, how fab would that be? I'm going to the big Greenwich Village Parade tonight, which is my favorite thing to do in New York on Halloween. It's nuts down there on a regular night so you can imagine what Halloween is like! I'll give a full recap tomorrow, but for now here's one more Throwback Thursday Halloween-style post: This photo is from a couple years ago, the Halloween after the first season of Walking Dead aired. I'm a huge fan of the show (if any casting directors are reading this I'm available to come down to Atlanta and play the role of a mule zombie, hint, hint - hahahaha!) so I decided to be a zombie, or walker as they call them. Don't I look scary? I terrified lots of people that night, so I'd consider it a success. Anyway, I gotta go get my stuff ready for the big night, can't wait to show you all what I wore this year! Have a spooky evening everyone!
In continuing with my anticipation of Halloween, here's another blast from the past Halloween costume. Can you guess who I was? I was Pippi Longstocking of course! Or to call her by her full name: Pillilotta Delicatessa Windowshade Mackrelmint Ephraim's Daughter Longstocking. Whew, that was a mouthful and a half! think I was 10 or 11 at the time of this photo and Pippi was a hero of mine at that age. I always wished she was a real person because we had the same slightly naughty sense of adventure and I knew we'd have the BEST time together! So how about you guys? Who were your childhood heroes who you wish you could meet? I'd love to hear all about it. Have a great weekend!
Hey Y'all, I know you were waiting all week and it's finally here: In keeping with yesterday's Halloween theme I'm going to post a throwback Halloween picture, and this one is going waaaaay back: Do you get it? I'm a baby carrot!!! Hahahhaha! And I was just a baby back then so I can't take responsibility for the clever costume, it was my Mom's idea so thanks Mom! Have a great weekend everyone, and remember the advice I gave in my last post: stay away from the slutty costumes!
Hey Guys! I'm kind of tricking you with the name of this post because it's actually time for: My Throwback Thursday post for today features a photo of me when I was in middle school, 6th grade to be precise. I'm not gonna make you wait any longer, here it is: Can you understand why I named this post what I did? With those colors on, I look just like a My Little Freakin' Pony! And yes, that is a perm in my mane. Looking back now it kinda makes me look like a Hasidic Jewish man but gosh did I loved those flowing locks back then! And the rainbow braces were a nice touch too. Ahh middle school. Anyway, what did you all look like in middle school? Are you proud or embarrassed? I'd love to see pictures! Have a great day!
